Quote of the Day: Paradigm Shift

The postwar [World War II] model of paid work is an anomaly in world history.  Before 1945, few people prepared for their chosen careers in a college setting and then spent their entire adult lives working for the same company.  This model is purely a 1945-2005 phenomenon, not a norm of history.  It's not a tradition, not a general pattern, and certainly not an entitlement.

The small business sector generally relies less on traditional college training than big business and the corporations and more on the competitive values of initiative, innovation, ingenuity, tenacity, hard work, hungry stick-to-itiveness, and gutsy salesmanship.
